Prashant Tamang is a household name in India today! A year ago, not many people in India would have known of him. His amazing story was chiseled by reality TV and massive TV audiences in India. Today, he is a young policeman from the West Bengal Police Force who is a well-known identity in the consciousness of Indians all over the globe! Prashant Tamang took India by storm when he won the “Indian Idol 2007” title in a close contest. The young 24-year-old policeman from the North East of India has an amazing voice and emerged as a hugely popular winner. His is a remarkable story of dedication, passion and focus. He lost his father while still at school. Soon afterwards, Prashant Tamang joined the West Bengal Police Force. With the support of the Police Force, Prashant Tamang auditioned for the Indian Idol competition even though he had no formal training in music!

Right through the “Indian Idol 2007” competition, he demonstrated a sponge-like ability to grasp, an innate desire to learn and improve as well as a dedicated focus that was heartening to watch. Right before our very eyes, we were seeing the emergence of a talent; the blossoming of a flower. Eventually Tamang wowed both audiences as well as judges. What was needed was a varnish of fervour and enthusiasm. When that was added to the cocktail, it was inevitable that Prashant Tamang would take the event by storm. He did!

Since his victory, Prashant Tamang has performed in live concerts in India and in the USA. There are plans for many other overseas concerts in the future. Prashant Tamang will also represent India in the Asian Idol competition.

Prashant Tamang is set to perform in Australia soon! We are all are looking forward to a dazzling spectacle from this young charismatic singer, belting out some of the most popular numbers of recent years! Prashant Tamang will share the stage with Sonu Nigaam in “CHARINDAA’s WorldOnDemand-NAB Sensational Sonu Nigaam Tour of Australia 2008”; the tour raises funds for the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Centre Appeal.

The tour promises to be a truly exciting and rewarding experience. We will see a master performer singing alongside a new-kid-on-the-block! The concerts will appeal to the young and the old equally. And it is for a good cause too.
