Welcome to CHARINDAA

CHARINDAA (Charities through Indian Arts in Australia) is a not-for-profit charitable institution in Australia. CHARINDAA, which also means ‘to be free’, has two main objectives:

  • mobilizing funds for needy charities,
  • promoting Indian Arts in Australia.
  • CHARINDAA’s objective is "(Mobilising funds for important) charities through (the vehicle of) Indian Arts (promotions that are carried out and executed) in Australia".

CHARINDAA's Vision: To raise $1m for charites over a 10 year period (commencing 2005).

CHARINDAA aims to promote 'Indian Arts' events that have a 'pan-Indian' and universal appeal. The longer term objective of CHARINDAA is to promote Indian Arts at mainstream venues in Australia.

At the conclusion of "CHARINDAA's WorldOnDemand-NAB Sensational Sonu Nigaam Tour, 2008", CHARINDAA has raised a total of $220,000 through its promotional activities.

CHARINDAA's promotions have included "The Qantas-SigaramTV A. R. Rahman Tour, 2005" as well as The SigaramTV-IndianLink-Honda Festival of Indian Music in Australia, 2006 (FIMA 2006)".

A galaxy of stars presented to Australian audiences by CHARINDAA...

Rahman accompanied by celebrated singers Hariharan, Chitra, Sadhana Sargam, Shankar Mahadevan, Alka Yagnik, Blaaze, Madhushree and Kailesh Kher. The Tour was presented in a 3D format – a first for Rahman, who is undoubtedly the biggest name in Bollywood music and Tamil film music today.

CHARINDAA presented the SigaramTV-IndianLink-Honda Festival of Indian Music in Australia 2006 (FIMA 2006) in August 2006 in Sydney and Melbourne. FIMA 2006 presented 4 concerts over one weekend in Sydney followed by 4 concerts the following weekend in Melbourne. The Festival featured The Colonial Cousins, Dr Rajam, Dr Ramani, Hariharan, Sanjay Subrahmanyan and many other talented musicians.

CHARINDAA presented the WorldOnDemand-NAB Sensational Sonu Nigaam Tour of Australia, 2008 in April 2008 in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide. CHARINDAA's Sonu Nigaam Tour presented 3 concerts in 3 cities over one weekend -- the ANZAC Day long-weekend.
